Mohamed Semary has more than 17 years professional experience, ten of them in investment banking and business development in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). At Abraaj, his responsibilities involve identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with a global investor base, as well as ensuring continuous feedback and enhancing value for institutional and high net worth clients. Among Mr. Semary’s other responsiblities are originating transactions, and developing and managing relationships with governments in the region. Before joining Abraaj, Mr. Semary held various positions in the MENA region, mainly at EFG-Hermes, the region’s largest investment bank. While serving Western and Arab institutional clients on the bank’s securities brokerage desk, Mr. Semary earned the ‘Best Broker in Egypt’ award from Reuters. He went on to be Head of Business Development, which encompassed regional corporate development and corporate finance coverage. Mr. Semary has extensive experience is several MENA countries, including Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Algeria. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the American University in Cairo.
