Mr. Omar Syed has over 6 years of private equity experience.  Prior to joining Abraaj, he spent six years with American Capital, the largest US publicly traded private equity firm with over $20 billion in capital resources under management.  Mr. Syed started at American Capital in the portfolio management group, where he performed and managed financial due diligence, quarterly valuations, and portfolio monitoring functions.

He then moved on to focus on buy-outs and financial restructurings across various industries and sectors, including industry leaders like Piper Aircraft.  Mr Syed began his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, working in their Assurance & Business Advisory and Transaction Services practices.
 
Mr. Syed received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from McGill University. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant and a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.  He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute.
