Amr Helal is responsible for sourcing, structuring and negotiating transactions in Egypt and North Africa, for Abraaj and its partner companies, as well as working to add value at Egypt’s Al Borg Laboratories, the biggest medical-testing laboratory company in the Middle East. Before joining Abraaj, Mr. Helal was a senior member of the EFG-Hermes investment banking team, where he helped originate, lead and execute several high-profile transactions in the Middle East and North Africa. These included the initial public offering of Talaat Mustafa Group, Etisalat’s purchase of Saudi Arabia’s second mobile-phone license and the sale of Al-Ahram Beverages to Heineken International. With around ten years of investment banking experience, Mr. Helal has specialized in equity offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and restructuring. He has advised on more than US$ 11 billion of transactions and is a graduate of the American University in Cairo, with a BA in Economics.
