The Spinneys brand dates back to 1924 when it was established in Egypt to market food and consumer products across the Middle East through catering and distribution agreements with leading fast-moving consumer goods brands. It later developed into a premium supermarket retailer. Since 1999, the brand has focused entirely on retailing though multiple formats such as hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenience stores. The brand is present in Lebanon and Egypt, and recently opened in Qatar. It also operates in the UAE under a franchise agreement. Among other locations, Spinneys plans to open in Jordan.
