Sanarth Banerjee constructs a narrative – using text and image – as a language, to reflect an examination of a place or an event.
Sarnath Banerjee received MA in Image and Communication from Goldsmiths College, London. He has written graphic novels like Corridor, published by Penguin (India) and Vertige Graphics (France) in 2004 as well as Barn Owl’s Wondrous Capers in 2007. His drawings and videos have been exhibited at Paris-‐Delhi-‐Bombay, Centre Paris; Indian 5, MAXXI-‐National Museum of XXI Century Art, Rome, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Julia Peyton-‐Jones;Chalo India!, Mori Museum, 2008.
In 2012, Banerjee had a solo exhibition History is Written by Garment Exporters at the CCA in Glasgow and has been commissioned by Frieze Projects East for a public arts project during the London Olympics. He has also been a part of group shows at Haus der Kulture der Welt 2012 and DAAd gallery 2013 in Berlin. He is the shortlisted artist for the Abraaj Group Art Prize 2015.
Currently Banerjee lives and works in Berlin.
